WOW! This is  Ella's new favorite book by far! She enjoyed the art on the cover, stayed engaged throughout, (even though her first words were, "Wow, that is a big book!") and had her saying things like "It made me feel like I want to be like them."
It was a learning experience for the whole family. We each took away something different from each story and found inspiration in these amazing women. -Taylor, mother to Ella (age 7), Fort Worth, TX

WOMEN IN SPORTS: 50 Fearless Athletes Who Played to Win

A richly illustrated and inspiring book, Women in Sports highlights the achievements and stories of fifty notable women athletes from the 1800s to today, including trailblazers, Olympians, and record-breakers in more than forty sports. The whole family LOVED reading stories about amazing female athletes. We especially liked being able to read about athletes my children had heard of. This book encourages all children to chase their dreams and also the importance of hard work and practice. In today's world of instant gratification, sometimes the lessons of true grit and determination get lost. Reading about actual athletes and how hard they worked to reach their goals is inspiring. One fun thing that happened after we read this book was we were able to pull up some of the athletes on YouTube and watch their gold medal performances. As a family who loves skiing, my daughter wanted to read about Lindsey Vonn first. "Mom, looks, it's Lindsey!"  -Becky, mother of two (ages 7 & 8), Virginia Beach, VA

Women in Art: 50 Fearless Creatives Who Inspired the World

A charmingly illustrated and inspiring book, Women in Art highlights the achievements and stories of 50 notable women in the arts--from well-known figures like painters Frida Kahlo and Georgia O'Keefe, to lesser-known names like 19th-century African American quilter Harriet Powers and Hopi-Tewa ceramic artist Nampeyo. Covering a wide array of artistic mediums, this fascinating collection also contains infographics about artistic movements throughout history, statistics about women's representation in museums, and notable works by women. Women in Art celebrates the success of the bold female creators who inspired the world and paved the way for the next generation of artists.

A gentle warning from the Hullabaloo Crew: This book contains scientific discoveries and theories that will bring up A LOT of questions on subjects that may or may not be appropriate for some children. Readiness depends on maturity, level of curiosity of the child, and willingness to discuss on the adult reader's part. We think this book could be invaluable to the child inspired by STEM material but younger readers should be overseen by a trusted adult.
