Here's how it works: after you choose your book, you'll see CUSTOMIZE YOUR GIFT FOR $1.95. Should you so choose, you can type in your recipient's name and a special message for them here. Add your bookplate and also your book to cart. Next, you'll be directed to our Package It Up page. Here you can select a bag, continue shopping, or proceed to checkout.

Can you tell me how the shopping process works?
Traditionally, a bookplate is a card or piece of paper affixed to the inside of a book naming the book's owner. We've taken this a step further and given you a special place to write a message to your recipient as well. We can affix the bookplate to your books for you (making it ineligible for return, see our return policy below) or tuck it into the receipt envelope for the recipient to affix themselves (it's super easy). All personalized bookplates are only $1.95 with a purchase from any of our collections. If you choose not to personalize, your gift will come with a blank bookplate for the recipient to fill out.
Help! I didn't fill out my bookplates and I changed my mind! What do I do?
Email help@hullabaloobookco.com with your order number and we'll invoice you and print new plates and put them in the mail. Easy as pie.
Check your spam box. You should receive one from Hullabaloobookco.com confirming your order and then another one when your order ships with tracking information. If you have any questions regarding your order, we are here to help at help@hullabaloobookco.com.
We will process and ship your order within 2-4 business days (excluding weekends, holidays, and in the event that we are holding a special promotion or receive an influx of orders.) If you select Priority Mail, your order should arrive 2-4 business days after shipment, depending on the time of the year per USPS. If you choose ground shipping, your order should arrive 3-14 days after shipment. You will receive an email when your order ships with a tracking number regardless of which method of shipping you choose. Please note that we cannot guarantee arrival dates and are not responsible for any delays.
We base our age recommendations on the feedback we receive from our Family Reader Circle. A lot of eyes (kiddo and adult) read our books and we pay attention to the experiences of each. Sometimes a book is enjoyed by a younger child because it has beautiful illustrations or a message so heartwarming the parents want to share that with children of all ages. Other times, a book is filled with facts or content better appreciated by older children. These ranges are just a suggestion but we do our best to help you make the right choice for your little reader.
Our Family Reader Circle is made up of moms, dads, grandparents, teachers, counselors, writers, early childhood specialists, professionals, and a bunch of kids ranging in age from 6 months to 10 years old. We’re always looking to add to the group. If you have a background in early education, child development, publishing, mentalhealth, or a skill that you think is relevant, please let us know at hello@hullabaloobookco.com.
To find our books, we work with publishers, are constantly receiving awesome recommendations from folks like you, and honestly, use good old fashioned elbow grease. Our kids are the lucky recipients of A LOT of new bedtime stories. After we’ve narrowed down the list of new discoveries, we pass them along to our Family Reader Circle to get their feedback. We’re looking for a few things in our books: superior quality, with heavyweight paper and gorgeous illustrations, stories that embody one (or a few) of our Amazing Attributes, and how well children interact and stay engaged as they're reading. We’re also looking for books that represent a wide range of ethnicities, abilities, cultural backgrounds, and world-views. The lucky few who make the BEST impressions get added to the shop!
We agonized over this! At our core, we believe that putting almost anybook in the hands of a child is giving them a lifelong gift. That said, we’ve made it our mission to help you find books you may never have heard about, especially if you aren’t a parent or avid reader of children’s literature. Classics are easily found and easily purchased at a multitude of retailers (for which we are very grateful!) and we don’t want you to run the risk of gifting a child something they already have or might be receiving from another friend or family member. So while some of you may recognize a few of our titles that were simply too good to pass up, the bulk of our choices are made with discovering new and exciting options for you. We pride ourselves on a curated list of NEW, modern classics that are sure to delight child and adult readers alike.

Return Policy
We are happy to accept returns of unread books WITHOUT the bookplate affixed within 30 days of its arrival date. Due to the highly personalized nature and permanence of attached bookplates, books sent with bookplates attached are not returnable. If you wish to have your bookplate sent unattached in the receipt envelope, making it eligible for exchange or return, please check the box indicating so at checkout.
Returns are issued in two forms: the original payment is refunded to the purchaser’s credit card or an exchange can be made for books of equal or lesser value. Shipping charges are non-refundable. Please email help@hullabaloobookco.com and we’ll get things sorted straight away!
